Salmon and Sea Trout

The River Esk is the principal salmon and sea trout fishery in Yorkshire, with the water around Whitby supporting the third largest commercial salmon net fishery in the country. • Danby - Salmon and sea trout fishing (March - October) with good trout catches particularly in September and October. Scaling Dam Fishing

Scaling Dam Reservoir ( 01287 644032) is just two miles from Staithes View and open from March - November. Its relatively shallow waters make it an excellent choice for both fly and bait anglers. There's an on-site lodge shop stocked with rods, reels, tackle, accessories, clothing, worms, bait, ice creams and refreshments. Accessible for disabled anglers and visitors.
